
Assigning hotkeys for profiles in Snagit. Have you upgraded to Snagit 12? If you’re already using Snagit 11 version on your computer, then you’ll find the new capture method quite annoying. One click has been replaced with a new capture window, which sticks to top of screen and appears when you hover over for access, you’ve to click the ‘red’ button to capture and need to follow these steps: drag the area on the screen and select a capture type: image or video.

If you only use Snagit regularly to capture images, but not to record videos, then the steps mentioned above to capture an image is quite long and not intuitive. Fortunately, TechSmith has allowed us to set hotkeys for profiles in the new version, which saves you a lot of time.

Creating a shortcut for Image/video profile in Snagit 12
1. Open Snagit Capture Window, click on ‘Manage Profiles’
2. Once Manage Profiles dialog appears, select ‘Image‘ profile from the list
3. Click on ‘Hotkey’, and assign one that doesn’t conflict with other applications installed in your computer, I have set Insert as the hotkey.

To view hotkey or keyboard shortcut you assigned for the Profiles
Open Capture window, hover over one of the profiles, which shows details like Name, Capture type, Selection and Hotkey (check the screenshot below). Manage Profiles windows also shows the shortcut for Profiles you’ve created.
