After desktop, Microsoft has released Microsoft Edge 97 for Android and is now available on the Play Store. This version of Edge adds a feature to scan for compromised passwords to Android, known as Password Monitor. The update also brings new notifications and displays weather conditions on the new tab page.

What’s new:
- Help keep your online credentials secure with Password Monitor. You can check if passwords you’ve saved in the browser have been compromised and found in our database of known breached credentials.
- New Notifications allow you to not miss breaking news, match scores and even help you keep a close eye on stock price changes.
- Keep an eye on weather conditions on the new tab page
We’ve last reported about Password Monitor on the Android version of Edge when it first appeared in Canary. It is now launched according to changelog.
But the feature is not yet available out of the box, you can still manually enable it and check if your passwords are compromised.
Enable Password Monitor in Microsoft Edge on Android
- Visit edge://flags
- Type and search for the “monitor”, in the results displayed, for “Edge Android password monitor”,
in the dropdown, select “Enabled” and restart the browser.
Finding breached Passwords using Password Monitor
- Launch Edge
- Tap on the Menu icon and select “Settings”
- Tap on your profile name under Account
- Select Passwords
- Tap on Password Monitor and select the “Scan now” button.
Edge’s Password Monitor will check for breached passwords by comparing them with the database in the cloud and displays if any on your screen, you can change those affected passwords.
Other changes:
- In addition to the changelog we mentioned above, we noticed Edge adding the “using external apps” section under General with options to control websites launching as external Apps.
- New Tab Page settings now allow managing visibility of image of day tile and weather.
We’ve been able to update to Edge 97 from 96 via the Play Store.
