Microsoft Edge gets Multiple Profile Preferences and Phone and other devices Section in Settings

Microsoft has updated Edge browser Settings in Canary version to let you choose a default profile for external links and provides “Phone and other devices” section on how to set up your phone on Android, iOS, and computer on Windows and Mac to access Edge favorites, passwords and addresses, and more.

Microsoft Edge based on Chromium supports multiple profiles, where you can create one profile for personal use and another one for work. The browser already allows opening links in other profiles. For instance, you can right-click on a link and open that link in another profile with the option provided in the context menu.

Microsoft Edge now allows choosing which profile to use as the default for external links.

1. Click on ellipsis icon > Settings > Profiles > Multiple profile preferences,

2. Choose the profile for “Default profile for external links”, whereby default Edge uses last used the profile to open links in email or other applications.

Edge Settings newly offers “Phone and other devices ” section letting you know Edge based on Chromium available on Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS, and by signing into Edge on computer with your Microsoft account, you can able to sync and access favorites, passwords and browsing history on other devices when you sign and enable sync on those devices. The section offers the following steps to get this done:

1. Sign into Microsoft Account to sync

2. Download Edge from App Store, alternatively you can also use your phone to scan QR code displayed for the same.

3. Sign into Microsoft Edge on your Phone.
