The AMD Software download for Windows 11 and Windows 10 is free from amd.com. One installer sets up the Radeon graphics driver and the AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition app together.
Run the Auto-Detect and Install tool, and it checks your Radeon graphics and Ryzen chipset, then fetches the matching drivers. AMD also publishes a full package for Radeon RX 5000 and newer cards, and a separate one for older Polaris and Vega cards.
This guide covers which package fits your PC, installation, driver types, updates, install errors and a clean uninstall.

Which AMD Software download do you need?
Match your hardware to the package. To find your card, open Device Manager and expand Display adapters.
| Your hardware | Download | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Any Windows 11 or 10 PC with Radeon graphics or a Ryzen chipset, when you are unsure | Auto-Detect and Install tool | Picks the driver for you and downloads it during setup |
| Radeon RX 9000, 7000, 6000 or 5000 series desktop card | Adrenalin Edition 26.9.1 release notes and package | Full package for RDNA-based graphics |
| Radeon RX 400, RX 500, RX Vega or Radeon VII | Adrenalin Edition 26.5.2 for Polaris and Vega | Separate package; the RDNA package does not list these cards |
| Radeon PRO card used with certified professional apps | AMD Software: PRO Edition | Workstation driver with ISV certification testing |
| Laptop, all-in-one PC or gaming handheld | Your PC maker’s support site | AMD recommends the OEM-provided driver for these systems |
| Linux PC with Radeon graphics | Radeon Software for Linux | Ubuntu and RHEL packages |
Adrenalin Edition does not support handheld gaming devices such as the ROG Ally or Legion Go. Those need the device maker’s driver.
Download AMD Software from the official AMD drivers page
AMD serves every Windows package from drivers.amd.com, and only after you click a link on amd.com. A copied link, a Save As download or a download manager lands on AMD’s Download Incomplete page instead of the file.
- AMD Drivers and Support: Auto-Detect and Install tool — Windows 11 and Windows 10 64-bit; ships the 26.8.1 installer

How to install AMD Software on Windows 11 and 10
Sign in with an administrator account first. Close open apps, and pause antivirus, remote access and streaming software until setup finishes.
- Open the folder where the download was saved and double-click the file.
- Click Yes to unpack the setup files, and keep the default location.
- Wait while AMD Software Installer checks your system for driver and software compatibility.
- Review the End User License Agreement and the AI Acceptable Use Policy.
- Click Accept & Express Install to install with the default settings.
- Or click Additional Options to choose Default, Minimal or Driver Only, then click Accept & Install.
- Wait for the install to finish. The screen flickers briefly while the driver loads.
- Tick Launch AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition if you want the app to open, then click Close.
Driver Only installs no AMD Software window at all. Minimal keeps the basic controls but drops performance tuning and recording. Factory Reset removes every earlier AMD Software package first, and you cannot roll back afterwards.
Choose between the Recommended and Optional AMD driver
The installer lists both types for your GPU. AMD describes Recommended drivers as the most stable and certified by Microsoft. Optional drivers carry the newest features, game support and bug fixes.
Install the Recommended driver on a PC you rely on for work. Take the Optional driver when its release notes name a fix or game support you need, such as the Starfield and Apex Legends crash fix for RX 9000 cards in 26.9.1. To go back to an older driver, run the AMD Cleanup Utility first, as AMD advises for every downgrade.
Is AMD Software free?
AMD charges nothing for Adrenalin Edition. Radeon Chill, Radeon Super Resolution, FreeSync settings and performance tuning all come inside the same free app.
Yes. Download it only from amd.com. The use terms are the AMD Software End User License Agreement, which you accept by clicking the download link. Skip third-party driver updaters and repackaged driver bundles, and never pay for an AMD driver download.
Is there AMD Software for Mac?
AMD publishes no macOS version of Adrenalin Edition, and its release notes say the Windows driver is not intended for Apple Boot Camp. Intel Macs with AMD graphics that run Windows in Boot Camp use AMD’s dedicated Boot Camp drivers.
| Your Mac | Driver to use | Boot Camp package size (AMD listing) |
|---|---|---|
| MacBook Pro 16-inch 2019, MacBook Pro 15-inch 2016-2019, iMac Retina 4K and 5K 2017-2020, iMac Pro 2017, in Windows 10 | Boot Camp Unified Driver R6.4 | 566 MB |
| Mac Pro 2019 in Windows 10 | Boot Camp Driver for Windows 10 (Mac Pro) | 566 MB |
| Any Mac running macOS | Apple guide to AMD drivers in Boot Camp | No AMD download for macOS |
The Boot Camp drivers arrive as ZIP files. Extract the whole archive, then run Setup from the extracted folder inside Windows.
How to check your AMD Software version and update it
AMD Software checks for updates on its own. Use these steps to see the installed driver version or to update right away.
- Click Start, type AMD Software and open the app.
- Type System in the AMD Software search box and click the System Settings result.
- Open the Software and Drivers menu to read the driver version and component versions.
- Click Manage Updates to open AMD Install Manager.
- Find the new version under the available software section and click the down arrow to download it.
- Untick Automatically keep AMD Software up to date if you prefer to update by hand.
Check the AMD Software system requirements
A supported Radeon GPU matters more than CPU or RAM. Check your Windows build under Settings > System > About before you download.

Fix AMD Software not installing on Windows 11 or 10
AMD Software Installer shows an error number when setup fails. The installer log sits at C:\Program Files\AMD\CIM\Log\Install.log if you need to contact AMD support.
The download opens a Download Incomplete page
AMD refuses downloads that arrive without an amd.com referrer.
- Go back to the AMD drivers page or the release notes page.
- Click the download link directly. Do not copy it or use Save As.
- Turn off any download manager, or set it to send the referrer.
- Allow referrers again if a browser or firewall setting strips them.
Error 206: a pending Windows install or update
Windows still has changes waiting for a restart.
- Restart the PC.
- Let Windows finish booting and applying updates.
- Run AMD Software Installer again.
Error 1604: previous AMD software failed to uninstall
Parts of an earlier AMD Software package are still on the system.
- Open the AMD Cleanup Utility page and download the utility.
- Run it, then restart when prompted.
- Reinstall AMD Software.
Error 1603: a general installation error
Driver conflicts, antivirus blocks, missing Windows updates or corrupted system files.
- Run Windows Update and install all critical and important updates.
- Pause your anti-malware scans until setup finishes.
- Press Windows + X and open an administrator command prompt.
- Run DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and wait, even if it pauses at 20%.
- Run SFC /SCANNOW .
- Run the AMD Cleanup Utility, then reinstall AMD Software.
Error 183: third-party graphics drivers installed
The installer found another vendor’s graphics driver and stopped.
- Uninstall the other graphics vendor’s software and drivers.
- Remove that graphics card if it is a separate card, not integrated graphics.
- Run AMD Software Installer again.
Error 205: Windows Update replaced the new driver
Windows reverted the AMD driver version after setup completed.
- Type sysdm.cpl in the taskbar search box and press Enter.
- Select the Hardware tab and click Device Installation Settings.
- Choose No and click Save Changes.
- Restart the PC and reinstall AMD Software.
How to uninstall AMD Software
Remove AMD Software from Windows settings first. Use the Cleanup Utility only when a normal uninstall leaves conflicts behind.
- Click Start, type Installed apps and select it.
- Select AMD Software in the app list and click Uninstall.
- If several AMD Software versions appear on a multi-GPU PC, select all of them.
- Confirm with Uninstall. The display can go blank for a moment.
- Click Restart to finish.
For stubborn leftovers, run the AMD Cleanup Utility. Click Yes to run it in safe mode, which AMD recommends, and allow up to 15 to 20 minutes. It creates a System Restore point first and leaves AMD chipset drivers alone.
Choose another official AMD driver source
Adrenalin Edition covers Radeon gaming hardware on Windows. Other hardware and systems have their own official route.
| Option | Use it for | Where to get it |
|---|---|---|
| AMD Software: PRO Edition | Radeon PRO workstation cards and certified professional apps | amd.com PRO Edition |
| Radeon Software for Linux 26.14 | Ubuntu 24.04.4 HWE, Ubuntu 26.04, RHEL 10.2 and RHEL 9.8 | AMD Linux drivers |
| PC maker’s driver | Laptops, all-in-ones and handhelds such as the ROG Ally | Your laptop or handheld maker’s support site |
Stay with Adrenalin Edition on any desktop PC with a Radeon RX card. AMD Software Installer stops with error 173 when it finds no AMD graphics hardware, so a GeForce-only PC needs NVIDIA’s driver instead.
Frequently asked questions
Is AMD Software free?
Yes. AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition is a free download from amd.com for PCs with Radeon graphics. You accept the AMD Software End User License Agreement when you click the download link, and nothing is charged.
What is the official AMD Software download page?
AMD’s Drivers and Support page at amd.com/en/support/download/drivers.html hosts the Auto-Detect and Install tool. Each Adrenalin Edition release notes page on amd.com also links the full package for that version.

How big is the AMD Software download?
AMD does not print a file size for the Windows packages on its drivers page or release notes. The Auto-Detect tool downloads the driver components during setup, so plan for a working internet connection when you use it.
Is there an AMD Software offline installer?
Yes. Every Adrenalin Edition release notes page links a full installation package under Additional Information. The Auto-Detect and Install tool on the drivers page is the online option, which fetches drivers for the hardware it finds.
Is there AMD Software for Mac?
No. AMD publishes no macOS version of Adrenalin Edition. Intel Macs with AMD graphics running Windows 10 in Boot Camp use AMD’s separate Boot Camp graphics drivers, such as Boot Camp Unified Driver R6.4.
Is AMD Software 64-bit, and is there an ARM64 version?
AMD Software runs on 64-bit Windows only. AMD lists Windows 10 64-bit and Windows 11 as compatible systems, offers no 32-bit package, and names no ARM64 edition in its compatible operating systems list.
What is the latest version of AMD Software?
