Chrome on Android now lets you restore all Closed tabs at once

Chrome users on Android can now be able to restore recently closed tabs and tab groups in bulk easily by going to the Recent tabs and recently closed section. The feature is now available. Here is how you can enable and get all closed tabs back with a single tap without much difficulty.

Chrome on the desktop makes it easier to restore old tabs as it displays them under Recently closed in the History submenu of the main menu.

You’ll be able to retrieve not just windows containing tabs but tab groups as well. This is another way to recall tab groups from previous sessions as the save tab group option doesn’t work or serve the purpose.

When comes to Android, Chrome shows all previous tabs in the Recently closed section if you select the Recent Tabs item in the menu.

But, you’ve to restore tabs one by one, Google now allows you to avoid that hassle and restore tabs in bulk when you close all tabs and close a tab group.

Enable Bulk Tab Restore feature in Chrome on Android

  1. Launch Chrome browser
  2. Visit chrome://flags
  3. Search for recent tabs, in the dropdown for “Recent Tabs Bulk Restore

  4. Select Enabled and restart the browser.

The feature flag itself makes it clear with the description that, this ” Enables restoration of bulk tab closures (e.g close all tabs, close a group, etc) from Recent Tabs >Recently Closed.”

How to Restore closed Tabs in Chrome on Android in bulk

  1. If you’ve plenty of tabs open in Chrome, close all tabs by selecting the option or close a group
  2. Open a new tab next,
  3. Tap on the three-dot menu icon and select Recent Tabs
  4. In the Recently Closed section, with a single tap, all those tabs closed will be restored and available for you to see and use. This works for tab groups also.

Final words: Closed all tabs or a tab group by mistake? Chrome soon will allow restoring all tabs or groups in bulk with a single tap in the stable release version. The feature is currently available in Chrome 105 for testing.
