Windows 11 Latest Update brings new Widget & Acrylic Context Menus

Microsoft has released the third Windows 11 Preview build 22000.71 to insiders in dev channels via KB5004252 Cumulative Update. This update fixes a slew of bugs and offers a new Entertainment Widget and Acrylic effect to modern and right-click context menus on Windows 11.

Highlights:

  • Context menus now turned acrylic
  • Taskbar Previews updated with Windows 11 design aka have now rounded corners.

Entertainment Widget

Windows 11 comes with Widgets. Microsoft has added an Entertainment widget to the existing list.

To get it, click on Widgets on the taskbar and click on Add widgets, and select Entertainment.

The widget shows new and featured movie titles. Clicking a movie title takes you to Microsoft Store to display more information about the title

The Entertainment Widget is available in these countries for time being: US, UK, CA, DE, FR AU, JP.

How to get Windows 11 build 22000.71 (KB5004252)

Microsoft is delivering new Preview builds via Cumulative Update. You will get this build when you install the KB5004252 update that has been offered along with “2021-07 Cumulative Update for .NET framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 11 for x64( KB5004316) by Windows Update.

Check for updates if you’re on the Dev channel by opening Settings> Windows Updates > Check for Updates.

Once the updates are installed and require a reboot, you’ll be told about the update install estimate time, this appears In the Windows Update as well as Power options in Start Menu.

If you use Win + X menu, Microsoft has improved to use to open commands present on it with shortcuts. For instance, you may be able to open Device Manager with Win + X +M.

This build comes with fixes to the taskbar, File Explorer, Search, Widgets, and others that include Alt + Tab gets stuck.  You can check the whole list here.
