Google Chrome comes with Software Reporter Tool and it reports potentially unwanted programs found on your computer to Google. Chrome has this functionality baked and offers the Cleanup tool in Settings to perform an on-demand scan for adware. The Chromium team is now testing an option to notify the user when the harmful software scan with the Cleanup tool is complete.
Chrome with Safety Check, already allows us to scan for harmful software and informs if such software is found.
Considering, the performance and privacy concerns with the Software Reporter Tool, Chrome made the Cleanup tool optional in “Reset and Cleanup” under Advanced Settings.
