Enable ‘Enhanced Protection’ for Chrome on Android

Chrome for Android has recently received a Safety check feature, after rolling out Enhanced protection to desktop, Google is planning to bring the same to Android as well. But the feature can be already enabled in Chrome for Android, here is how you can do that.

To provide tailored and proactive protections to you and other Chrome users, Google has introduced Enhanced Safe Browsing, coming soon to Android with a future release.

Google’s Safe Browsing feature protects millions of devices every day. Safe Browsing guards users against phishing websites and dangerous downloads.

The new Enhanced Safe browsing already available on the desktop when you opt-in by visiting Settings > Privacy and security > Enhanced Protection, proactively protects against dangerous sites in real-time.

Safe Browsing Blocklist API gets updated every 30 minutes with new unsafe sites. In the 30 minutes refresh window, phishing sites slip through by switching domains quickly.

But for Chrome to protect you, even more, it needs to send more data to Google.

Enhanced Safe Browsing when enabled in Chrome,

  • Sends URLs to Safe Browsing to check them.
  • Also sends a sample of pages, downloads, extension activity, and System information
  • Warns if your passwords are exposed in a data breach
  • Improves security for you and everyone on the web
  • Predicts and warns you about dangerous events before they happen
  • Keep you safe on Chrome and may be used to improve your security in other Google Apps when you are signed in
