In the month of October, Avast Software has released Avast 20.8.2429 and is available for download with some improvements. For instance, Web Shield updated to support for scanning threats in QUIC protocol. Similarly, the way the Cybercapture process sends detected unknown files to Threatlabs updated to make it a whole lot easier. This release includes bug fixes to more than 100 issues.

- Avast may no longer annoy you if it came across an unknown file on your system. Avast claims the whole process of sending files to ThreatLabs for analysis has been updated.

The October update published for Avast fixes plenty of issues. We mentioned some of them below.
- Fixed a UI bug that caused Avast to pop up randomly.
- Resolved a rare case where Password Protection didn’t recognize supported browsers
- Shredder can now shred read-only files without any issues.
- Remote access Shield detection window no longer appears if you’ve disabled its notification in Settings
- OS boot problems when running smss.exe virtualized were fixed.
- Addressed a memory leak in RegistryChangeWatcher
- Fixed aswToolsSvc.exe initialization issues upon version update and before OS Start
- Addressed monitoring and removal of ServiceDLL.
