How to Disable Extension Recommendations in Firefox Nightly

We’ve covered Firefox to show extension recommendations to a set of users as part Contextual Feature Recommendation (CFR) system, it’s now happening to Nightly users, they’re receiving notifications to install extensions when they visit different websites such as Reddit, Facebook, YouTube etc (check the video here). The thing is if you tell Firefox to don’t give that recommendation, the browser will display another recommendation on different site, here is how you can disable the extension recommendations from showing on Nightly and it’s easy.

Disable Extension Recommendations in Firefox Nightly

  1. Visit about:config
  2. Search for the preference, browser.newtabpage.activity-streamasrouterExperimentEnabled, if it exists, change its value to false.
  3. If it doesn’t exist, create a new boolean preference with the above name and set its value as false.

Hope this helps. Next, Firefox feature recommendations are coming, get ready.
