Opera has removed the Tab Menu which allowed to access recently closed tabs, this article discusses the ways we can reach them from various parts of the browser.
Opera used to offer a dedicated menu on the top right with a list of previously closed Tabs. To see/reopen a tab you closed a while back, you need to click on the menu and click on the required tab.
Finding recently closed tabs has been made easier by Opera with the Tab Menu, which no longer exists. Opera software has removed it in a recent update and the company started informing users to check them in History Panel in the sidebar instead.
Opera also shows recently closed tabs in “Search in tabs” when you select the option in the browser menu. This change is currently present in Opera developer 70.
So much confusion to users to look out at three or more places instead though a dedicated menu.
Ways to reopen recently closed tabs in Opera browser
I. Launch Opera and click on the History icon on the sidebar to open History Panel with a list of Recently closed Tabs.
II. Click on Opera menu > History > Recently Closed
III. Press Ctrl +Space or select “Search in Tabs” in Menu.
Has the Opera browser stopped innovating after moving to Chromium? The answer is no if you look at built-in VPN, battery saver, instant search, messengers in the sidebar, and the separate browser it brought for Gaming known as Opera GX.

Thank you so much for sharing that extension! I just changed laptops and went to disable the flag for the new search tab menu like I had before, but apparently the devs have removed the flag, so now it’s impossible to get the recently closed tabs button back. I was absolutely fuming, have used Opera exclusively for years but this had me thinking about test-driving another browser. This extension is a lifesaver, thank you thank you thank you!
