Simplify Page option in Firefox Print Preview dialog outputs clutter-free pages when you print. Mozilla has removed it when it introduced the new Print UI. It was Firefox’s most unique feature when compared with Chrome. The Simplified (rather than Simplify page, just a name change) option is now making a return to Print Preview in Firefox 91.

Mozilla included Simplify Page option in the Print interface with Firefox 49.
The company has quietly dropped it from Firefox 80.or other versions afterward and it didn’t make it into the new Print interface Mozilla developed for Firefox.
In older versions of Firefox, users need to select the Print option in the hamburger menu and select the “simplify page” checkbox in Print Preview.
You should note the checkbox appears only for supported pages. Otherwise, it may look grayed out.
Behind the scenes, when you select the checkbox, Firefox applies Reader View to Page.
The resulted Print view doesn’t contain ads, menu, backgrounds, buttons and is not only readable but also saves paper/ink.
With the new Print UI launch, users were suggested to enter Reading mode and then Print as a workaround for missing simplify page.
How to print simplified, clutter-free pages in Firefox 91
- Launch Firefox
- While you’re on the desired page to print, press Ctrl+P or select the Print option in Application Menu
- Use the Scrollbar to scroll down and select “Simplified” under “Format”
- Click Print. You can print the pages to a PDF or Printer connected to the device.
It’s not a coincidence that you notice the Reader View icon in the address bar for the web page you’re printing, the simplified format option in Print Preview only appears for Reader mode supported pages.
In the past, Firefox offered Alt+I as a shortcut, now seems there is no shortcut available.
