Microsoft has recently released Preview builds for Windows 11 and is available to insiders for testing. Snap Layouts is a new feature of the OS that makes managing multiple windows more easier than in Windows 10. You may be surprised to know Firefox browser window maximize button doesn’t display Snap Layouts in Windows 11 when you hover over it with mouse, here is how to fix that.
Snap Layouts in Windows 11
Snap App Windows side by side is available in Windows since Windows 7.
To arrange two app windows side by side on screen, you need to do that manually on Windows 10. Third-party tools makes this less painful.
Microsoft seems to have fixed that issue by taking inspiration from their own PowerToys Fancyzones.
Multitaskers my find Snap Layouts and Snap Groups feature in Windows 11 more useful.
When you hover over the maximize button in a App window, you can be able to choose position for App window to put on screen from predefined layouts.
Unfortunately, though Chrome and Microsoft Edge already support Snap layouts, latest Firefox 90 (and even for that matter Nightly 91) doesn’t display them, luckily there is a way to fix and make them visible with Firefox on Windows 11.

Make Firefox to show Snap Layouts in Windows 11
- Launch Firefox browser
- Right click on toolbar and select “customize toolbar”
- This opens customize panel, within that window, at bottom, select checkbox before Title Bar

- Now bring cursor over Maximize control in Firefox window to notice Snap Layouts with different predefined snap options for your screen.

Note: The number of Snap Layouts depends on Screen size. For instance, if you use small display, you’ll get four zones, where if you use wide monitor, you’ll get six or more zones,
Snap groups work and appear too on taskbar when you snip Firefox and other app side by side on screen.
Techdows tested this on Firefox v90 and Firefox Nightly 92 and can confirm its working. The screenshot we posted also says that.
So, the summary here is you’ve to enable Title bar in customize Palette for Firefox to show Snap Layouts in Windows 11.
If you don’t like Firefox displaying title bar, you could be losing useful multitasking feature.
Hope Mozilla addresses Snap Layouts issue in Firefox soon before Microsoft ships final version of windows 11.
