How to install extensions in Edge from outside Windows Store?

With the Windows 10 anniversary update, Microsoft Edge is available to public with extensions support, you can now visit Windows Store and install extensions in Edge browser. What if the extension that is available for other browsers and not available in the Store and the developer offers that extension on his website?

Like Google Chrome offers developer mode, that allows extensions to install from outside the web store, Microsoft Edge browser also allows to install extensions from outside Windows Store. Let us see how to do that.

Installing Extensions in Edge from outside Windows Store

1, Visit the developer website and the download extension zip file.

2. Extract the files to a folder on your desktop.

3. Open Edge browser, visit about:flags and under Developer Settings, check ‘Enable extension developer features‘ option.

4. Click on More actions button, select Extensions, click on Load Extension button and select the folder which you’ve downloaded and extracted before.

5. Done, the extension will be installed and the browser labels it as installed ‘From unknown source(unsigned).
