As promised in the Roadmap for PDF Reader in Microsoft Edge, Micorosft has already brought most of the PDF features from Edge Legacy to the new Edge. Now, to the latest, the company has added Two Page View option to Edge Chromium. The feature lets you view Pages in a PDF in a Two-page layout for easier reading. Here is how you can enable the feature in the new Edge browser.
One thing that is stopping some users from using the new Edge is it doesn’t have a full-fledged PDF Reader Edge Legacy has.
After switching to Chromium, Microsoft ported the following features to Chromium Edge browser
- Read aloud
- Smooth Scrolling
- Table of Contents
- Digital Signatures
- Dark Mode support
- Fill PDF form and inking support
- Highlighter tool
Enable Two Page view for PDF in new Edge browser
- Launch new Edge browser
- Visit edge://flags
- Search for “Enable two-page view for PDF”
- Click on the dropdown arrow and select “Enabled”
- Restart the browser
Load any PDF from the web or from your device, to see the option on the toolbar. Click on it and select “Two Page”
The flag is currently present in Edge 88 Canary. Edge 88 stable is expected to be available in January 21, 2021.
After request from users, Google too added Two Page View for PDFs to Chrome browser, albeit requires enabling a flag.” PDF Viewer Update”. For more details read,
