Microsoft has released the first cumulative update KB5006674 (build 22000.258) as part of Patch Tuesday for Windows 11 after general launch on October 5 and is now available for download. The update comes with a fix for the Killer Network bug.
Windows 11 available to the public already has some known issues. You should expect Microsoft to address these with updates sooner than later.

Windows 11 has compatibility issues with,
1. Apps using some non-ASCII characters in their registry keys. Those Apps might be unable to open and cause other issues or errors on Windows.
2. Oracle Virtual Box. You may not be able to start Virtual Machine and you may receive an error.
3. Intel “Killer” and Smartbyte Networking Software.
Windows 11’s Intel Killer Network bug
- If you’re using Alienware PCs or laptops or devices with Intel Killer Network adapters, you may notice some issues after upgrading to Windows 11.
- Microsoft acknowledged the issue affects User Datagram Protocol (UDP) packets and drops in performance. For instance, games, websites, Videos, and VPNs based on UDP may load slowly.
- All in all, you can say Internet Speed might be slow on these devices.
Microsoft has published Cumulative Update KB5006674 to address the Intel Networking issues.
Note: There are reports of Killer Control center crashing on Windows 11 while trying to open. Do let us know if the update has improved its stability or not.
Here is how to check your device has Intel Killer NIC
- Press the Win key and type Device Manager
- Click the best match to open the Device Manager
- Navigate to Network Devices and check for Killer NICs there. They would appear with the name Killer, for instance, Killer E2500 or E2600.
