Worthless 3D Objects Folder to vanish w/ Windows 10 21H2 Update

After installing Windows 10, when you open File Explorer, you’ll notice the 3D Objects folder along with others such as Desktop, Downloads, Documents, and Pictures. After receiving feedback from users that they hardly used the 3D Objects folder, Micorosft has decided not to show it by default in File Exploprer in Windows 10 from 21H2 onwards.

What is the 3D Objects folder

3D Objects folder resides at the C:users is the default save location for Paint 3D.

The folder appeared first with Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.

Windows 10 21H2 to take away the 3D Objects folder

The Feedback Hub is flooded with requests from users to allow them to hide or disable or remove the folder.

The company has heard it and implemented a change to hide the 3D objects folder in Windows 10 insider build 21322.

“The 3D objects folder will no longer be shown as a special folder in File Explorer after updating to this build”

Do note the folder will be hidden, but not removed.

To access it,

  • type %userprofile% in File Explorer or
  • Open File Explorer
  • Click on View
  • Click on Navigation Pane
  • And select “Show All Folders”

Windows 10 21H2 update may available later this year 2021.

If you’re using Windows 10 20H2 or earlier versions, use the below registry hack to get rid of it.

  • Open registry editor
  • Navigate  to ComputerHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerMyComputerNameSpace
  • Delete the Subkey {0DB7E03F-FC29-4DC6-9020-FF41B59E513A}
