Last updated on January 8, 2021 By Venkat

If you don’t like Windows Search that consumes precious system resources and requires constant indexing, you may want to try out other third-party Search tools. Everything Search is an awesome freeware and portable tool that indexes files instantly and shows files you’re looking for in no time, you can now add it to Windows 10 Taskbar.

What you need to know about Everything Search engine:

  • With an intuitive interface, finds files and folders when you type name.
  • Indexes thousands of files on Windows 10 within seconds on the first run.
  • Uses very fewer system resources
  • updates changes to files in Real-time

What’s wrong with Windows Search?

  • Doesn’t generate accurate results all the time
  • Hogs system resources as Windows search service requires constant running in the background

Meet Everything Search  Toolbar!

Use Everything Search from Windows 10 taskbar

A developer integrated Everything Search into Windows Taskbar with the new  “Everything Toolbar”. The tool source code is available on Github to check.

Installation and usage steps:

  • Download the Zip file,
  • extract contents to a folder
  • Right-click on the “install ” bat file and select ” Run as administrator”
  • In the command prompt window, press any key continue its installation
  • Right-click on the taskbar twice to see “Everything Toolbar” in Toolbar.

Note: For the feature to show up as a search box instead of an icon, you need to unblock the taskbar.

Then start doing the searching.

It’s worth noting that Everything Service requires running in the background and for the tool to work. Like Everything, this tool too lightweight and doesn’t hinder system performance.

Do note Windows Search has the capability to index everything when you turn on Enhanced mode, for that, open Settings > Search > Searching Windows and enable Enhanced mode.

Download Everything Toolbar from Github.
