Microsoft releases ‘Group Tabs & Share’ Extension for Edge

While Microsoft is not working on Tab Groups feature which Chrome already has, the company has recently released the “Group Tabs & Share” extension for Microsoft Edge to Edge Add-ons Store and is available for download.

Chrome’s Tab Groups feature can still be added and enabled in the new Edge browser by enabling Tab Groups flag. Meanwhile, Microsoft has published an extension for Edge that allows users to copy the total number of tabs with their URLs to the clipboard in URL or HTML Or CSV or JSON format and share over email or on Twitter, Facebook, Whatapp, Microsoft Teams, LinkedIn websites, and other destinations.

Microsoft Store offers this description for the add-on:

“This add-on enables you to select and share data, links, and other info at the click of a button; helping you save the time and effort. What is even more interesting is that you can also choose the way you would want them to be shared. -As URLs only, HTML, CSV, JSON”

Group Tabs & Share Edge Extension

Using the extension is straight forward.

  1. Visit the extension page in new Edge and click on Get button to install
  2. Once installed, browse for some sites and click on the extension icon on toolbar
  3. The extension displays site URLs in tabs,
  4. Select all and copy to clipboard and paste into other web applications or email messages or use the options provided at the bottom to tell your open tabs to your colleagues on Microsoft Teams, LinkedIn, and WhatsApp web.
