Vivaldi browser now supports PWAs, here is how you can install them

Chrome and Edge Chromium browser development versions let you install Progressive Web Apps either via an icon in the address bar or from browser menu, till now you may have never heard about Vivaldi talking about PWAs or supporting them, well, you can now install them in Vivaldi 2.7 which is currently in snapshot version, here is how.

Though Desktop PWA flags are present and can be seen in Vivaldi://flags page they’ve not worked so far when enabled, Vivaldi browser in version 2.7 based on Chromium 76 now allows to install PWAs from the menu as Chrome and Edge does.

Install PWAs in Vivaldi browser

1. Ensure you’re using latest Vivaldi snapshot 2.7.1594.4 or later

2. Visit “Vivaldi://experiments” page

3. Select “Menu entries for installing Progressive Web Apps”, exit the Vivaldi browser and relaunch it.

4. Visit any PWA site like “mobile.twitter.com” or “photos.google.com”,

5. Click on V menu icon to notice “install” option, select it to install, the app will be installed and opens immediately in headless mode and gets added to “Chrome Apps folder” on the start menu.

Do note the “Chrome Canary Apps” folder is different.

PWAs installed from Vivaldi can be seen, accessed and removed by visiting “Vivaldi://apps” page where it lists Progressive Web Apps you’ve installed so far and each PWA offers these options on its right-click menu: Remove, App info and Create Shortcuts.
