Windows 11 bringing new Start Menu layouts & Clock on taskbar to Multiple Monitors

Windows 11 comes with a centered Start Menu. You can set it to appear on the left side like in Windows 10. Most users were annoyed with a Recommended section in Start and some even submitted feedback that was unnecessary and raised privacy concerns. We’ve covered how you can make it visible less annoying to you. Seems Microsoft heard the feedback, but instead of offering the ability to disable or entirely remove Recommended area in the Start Menu, it is giving layout options to customize with more pins or recommended items with the build 22509, the choice is users.

Windows 11 Start Menu’s new layout options:

To see the new layouts for Start Menu in Windows 11

  1. Click on Start
  2. Right-click anywhere on it and select Start Settings
  3. Choose the layout under Personalization > Start from More Pins or More Recommendations with the middle option being the default one.
Windows 11 offers more pins or recommendations layout options for Start Menu

If you choose More pins, Start Menu adjusts itself to show one more row of pinned items whereas if you choose More recommendations, Start displays another row of recommendations.

If you don’t select from either, no changes will be made to Start Menu, the default layout will be displayed.

Windows 11 to natively show date and time on a secondary monitor

Windows 11 build 22509 in dev channel supports showing clock and date on multiple displays. This was only possible till now using third-party Elevenclok, soon that app may turn redundant.

Windows 11 displays the date and clock on connected monitors without an issue.

At present, Microsoft is rolling out this to a subset of insiders running build, so not all have it. Meanwhile, if you’re using Windows 11 production build and have not joined the insider program, install the Elevenclok app from GitHub here.

The open-source app displays a clock on a secondary monitor if you’re running Windows 11. It adds date and time to each monitor you’re running but not on the default monitor you use.

So, do tell us which layout you choose for Start Menu in Windows 11 and how bad are you missing the clock and date on monitors?
