Windows 11 is beautiful, awesome. Most users liked the modern design, albeit they need to adjust to the centered start menu and taskbar first. Microsoft’s new OS comes with Windows Defender anti-malware built-in and protects you against viruses and threats. The question that comes to mind right now is, does the third-party Antivirus software work as it did on Windows 10? the Answer is Yes according to AV-Comparatives based on tests it conducted on popular AVs in Windows 11 insider previews.

Windows 11 release is upon us in October. It will be available with new PCs.
Microsoft made hardware requirements very tough for its latest OS.
Windows 11 supported CPUs should have an embedded Trusted Product Module (TPM) version 2.0, support secure boot, and Support Virtualization-Based Security (VBS).
Antivirus Software testing in Windows 11
Indepdent test Lab, AV-comparatives that does in-depth testing of antivirus software, said it has been running an initial AV-test with Windows 11 for compatibility issues.
“Of course, for all of us here at AV-comparatives, the subject of malware protection software for Windows 11 is particularly important. We are already running a preliminary AV-test with the new Operating System to check for compatibility issues”,
The test lab, AVC revealed popular antivirus software worked well in preview versions of Windows 11.
“Initial testing with popular consumer AV products on preview versions of Windows 11 indicates these will work just as well on new platforms as they did on earlier ones. ”
When you install 3rd-party antivirus on Windows 11, the antivirus scan entries will be available in the old context menu.
You need to right-click and browse for “Show more options” to reach and select the entry to perform a scan on a file or folder or drive.
For instance, if you’ve installed Avast, Windows 11 shows the option as ” Scan selected for viruses” in the old context menu.

There is still some left for the new Operating System to reach RTM, expect antivirus software vendors to iron out bugs and make their AVs compatible with Windows 11 by then.
