Chrome on Android to offer Settings for Automatic Translation of Languages

When you visit a foreign language page in Chrome on Android, a translation bar appears at the bottom and offers options for translation. You can even tell Chrome to always or never translate those pages in the future. If you prefer Chrome to offer a list of languages to add for automatic translation, Google has heard you and added advanced settings to Languages in Chrome Canary on Android for the same.

“This CL adds the always translate preference from the mocks[1] to the detailed language settings page on Android. The Preference shows the first three languages marked as always translate and once clicked opens a new fragment to add or remove always translate languages” [Android] add always Translate Settings Language picker commit reads.

To see or use new automatic translate settings in Chrome on Andriod

  1. Launch Chrome browser
  2. Tap on menu
  3. Select Settings
  4. Ensure “Offer to send pages in other languages to Google Translate” is enabled under Translate Settings
  5. Tap on Advanced  > Automatically translate these languages
  6. Remove or add the languages in Automatic Translate
