
After testing Skype Meet Now in Windows 10 Preview builds and Edge per-release channels, Microsoft has rolled out the Meet Now icon to public to Windows 10 taskbar and Edge New Tab Page. It allows you to create a meeting or join a meeting. No sign ups or download required.To use it, click the icon on Notification area and use the options.
What you need to know:
- Skype’s Meet Now is integral part of Windows 10
- Neither you can uninstall it or remove it, It is a system icon like Volume
- You don’t need to have Skype installed for this to appear in system tray
Note: If you use Firefox as default browser and click on Meet Now option, you’ll get “Browser not Supported” warning. Firefox doesn’t support Skype for Web after all.
Meet Now supported web browsers are
- Microsoft Edge
- Google Chrome
- Safari.
With recent Preview updates, Microsoft has integrated Meet Now into Windows 10.
If you don’t have a web camera and microphone attached to your computer or if you’ve no plans to use Meet now, you can hide it, but you can’t get rid of it.
Disable or Enable Meet Now icon on Windows 10 Taskbar
I.
- Right-click on the “Meet Now” icon in the Notification Area
- Select “Hide”
II.
- Click on Start, select Settings
- Open Personalization > Taskbar > Notification Area
- Click on “Select which icons to appear on the taskbar”
- Toggle the Meet Now button to “off” to disable.
III.
- Click on Start, select Settings
- Open Personalization > Taskbar
- Under Notification Area, Click on “Turn System icons on or off”
- Toggle Meet Now to off.
To Turn on the Meet Now icon in Notification Area again
You need to reverse the step in 2nd and 3rd methods.
