KB4576754 update force installs new Edge on Windows 10 2004

Microsoft is pushing new Microsoft Edge to Windows 10 devices running versions 2004, 1909, 1903, and 1809 with update KB4576754. The update will be automatically installed on systems that were running Classic Edge.

Contrary to complaints reported before, we noticed the new Edge’s first-run experience has been improved and is not annoying. If you’ve installed the new Edge manually before, you can uninstall the update and the new Edge version 84.0.522.68 that is installed by Windows Update.

After launching Microsoft Edge based on Chromium for manual download in January, Microsoft started delivering a new Edge to all Windows 10 editions via an automatic update process.

The company recently mentioned in a support article that Edge installed via Windows Update cannot be uninstalled.

Today, we noticed an Edge update for Windows 10 version 2004, KB4576754 has been installed quietly on our device and grouped under ‘Quality updates’ under the Update History. The update installs the Edge version 84.522.68.

Yes, this was applied to a development machine last week where I had previously ‘blocked’ it’s installation with a registry-key assignment (which I guess doesn’t work anymore).
Since I already have Chrome installed I don’t need another version of it and I proceeded to forcibly uninstall ‘Chredge’ using the instructions in this article:

If they would just bring back the pinnable favourites list I would switch but I really don’t want to lose that.

They installed Edge on my old windows 7! When it wanted to be configured, first window, I used the task-manager to delete the task, never heard about it again.
