Apart from adding “InPrivate” Label next to the icon on the toolbar in Private browsing mode, the Chromium Edge browser now shows how many windows you’ve open in Window counter menu and offers an option to close all of them easily.
Microsoft Edge based on Chromium in Canary has implemented a feature similar to incognito Window counter in Chrome browser. To make it easier for users to identify incognito window and normal window when the dark mode was enabled, the Chromium team added “Incognito” text to the toolbar, the window counter also added later. Do know the Chrome dark Mode UI was drawn based on the incognito theme.
Now Microsoft also has done that to InPrivate Window in latest Canary version for Edge 77.0.226.0 that supports dark mode on Windows 10, 8,1 and Windows 7.
To spot the change right away,
- Open latest Microsoft Edge Canary
- Click on ellipsis menu and select “New InPrivate Window”, similarly open another private window
- Now you can notice InPrivate text next to the icon on the toolbar, which when clicked shows the number of windows you’ve open and offers “Close Private Windows” button.
You can set Edge theme to dark by choosing the same option avaialble for Theme in Appearance Settings, you can also enable Dark mode on Windows 10 by setting “Choose default app mode” to “Dark” in “Colors” in Personalization, Edge honors that and instantly changes its browser theme to dark.
