Google Chrome may get focus mode in a Future Update

This is interesting, Google has added a new “Focus Mode” flag in Chrome Canary version which, when enabled according to the description, allows users to switch to it.

At the moment, activating the experimental feature by visiting about:flags page doing nothing, but there should be an option in browser toolbar or somewhere in Chrome UI  to activate the mode for that session or window, expect Chromium team to make the feature to work in the upcoming updates of Canary.

The priority to add the flag for the feature has been set to 1 in this bug. Another associated bug created talks about developing focus mode for desktop Chrome UI.

Focus mode is something that allows working without any distractions and the bug talks about minimal Chrome UI, so we can speculate switching to it may hide other tabs, user avatar, Chrome menu button and there is an extension available with the same name on Chrome Web Store which allows blocking social media sites as well list of sites users want to block.

We really don’t know how Google implements focus mode in Chrome browser, stay tuned for further updates on this.
