How to Enable Chrome 83’s new features right now?

With today’s Chrome 83 release, Google has announced it is rolling out new tools and a redesign of Privacy and Security settings. If you update Chrome 81 to 83 now, you won’t notice the new Settings nor the Safety check and the Cookie controls for Incognito, here is how you can get all of them right now in the stable version.

Privacy and Security Settings card got a new look with the most used “Clear browsing data” control on top for quick access. Safe Browsing technology that protects users against dangerous websites and malware downloads is enabled by default with the “Standard protection ” setting being set to active.

Note: Enhanced Protection could be rolled out later, as of now, it is not available even when the related flag is turned on.

Cookies settings also got a new design, allows users to block third-party cookies in incognito or normal modes.

In Site Settings, the options have been reorganized into Permissions and Content Sections. Permissions Section provides access to Location, Camera, Microphone, Notifications, and Background Sync.

Safety check:  A while back we’ve reported about Safety check and new privacy and security settings. The Safety Check tool when ran, alerts about compromised passwords, malicious extensions, Safe browsing, and browser update.

Block third-party cookies in Incognito: Google claims it will block third-party cookies by default in the incognito session. You’ll be provided an option to disable this in the incognito window itself which routes you to cookie Settings.

Extension menu. Extensions got a new home. Chrome now shows a puzzle icon in the toolbar and lists all extensions and shows permission access to they’ve on the websites you visit. Like before, you can still able to Pin extension icon to the toolbar.

To see all the above-mentioned design changes and new features in Chrome, you need to enable the following flags in chrome://flags page and restart the browser.

Google also announced before, it is bringing tab groups, which is also not available by default  You can enable the feature and start organizing tabs after enabling chrome://flags/#tab-groups in about: flags page.

    the cool thing is that the extensions toolbar menu stops the annoying warning about running extensions in developer mode

    i hope is not something in the works and stays as it is
