
Avira 2015 Product line has been unveiled, Avira Free Antivirus 2015 and Avira Antivirus Pro 2015, Avira Internet Security 2015 are available for download and all these are managed through Avira Online Essentials. Avira 2015 free version doesn’t come with a new UI, but for the first time, Avira users receive Avira Browser Safety as part of the product when they download the antivirus.

After installing Avira, a notification will be displayed from the system tray to ‘Activate New Features’, when you click on it, a page will open in the browser that lets you install an Avira Browser Safety (ABS), Avira SafeSearch, Dropbox.. You can skip their installation by clicking on ‘No, thanks’.
Avira Browser Safety
ABS offers same UI for Opera, Chrome and Firefox browsers. You can open its settings and disable ‘Avira offers’– shows better deals- and ‘Safety indicator‘ -ratings in the search results. Difference between Avira offline and online install
With the offline install, Avira Free Antivirus will be installed first on your computer followed by Avira desktop. With the online install, Online Essentials (AOE) will be first installed, followed by the Antivirus and other components.

Avira Free 2015 in a nutshell offers Browser Safety extension, lightweight anti-malware engine, newly introduced xVDF format (extended virus definition file) in place of nVDF “increases the number of virus definition files and optimizes the download speed of the files, which results in faster system start, smaller Virus Definition file size with each update, reduced VDF download volume, and much lower resource consumption by the product.”
