Chrome lets you Watch local Video files in Picture-in-Picture mode

If you like watching videos on YouTube in Chrome in Picture in Picture mode, do you know Chrome browser can play video files stored in your hard drive on the computer and you can even watch them in PiP mode when you select the option present in Video right-click menu?

The Picture in Picture feature introduced with Chrome 70 lets you watch videos in a mini window on top of other windows. To see the feature in action in Chrome, visit YouTube, play a video, right click on it twice and select “Picture in Picture”.

This brings another interesting topic, does video player on your computer supports PiP mode, don’t even search for it, you don’t need it if you’ve Google Chrome browser installed in your computer.

1. Launch the Chrome browser and set it aside open.

2. Now Navigate to video files stored on your hard drive, hold the Shift button and right click on the video file, and choose “Copy as path”

3. Now switch to Chrome, in the address bar, paste the video file path, remove the quotes and press enter

4. Right click on the video and select  “Picture in Picture” (her you need to select the option one time only), minimize Chrome and watch video on your desktop.

Tip: The Picture in Picture extension by Google available on Chrome Web Store, when installed, avoids the need to right click on the video twice, with a single click on extension icon the video will enter into Picture in Picture mode, nice isn’t it?.
