Chrome’s Password Manager gets a redesign

Google Chrome‘s Password Manager interface on the desktop is getting a makeover. Here is how you can enable and see the Password Manager’s redesigned UI right now in the Chrome browser.

Google is bidding goodbye to Password Manager which is part of Settings for a long time.

The company is detaching the Password Management page from Chrome settings and providing a dedicated page for the same.

The Password Manager features have been reorganized into Passwords, Checkup, and Settings

The Passwords section lists the current passwords and lets you search and find any. You can also able to add passwords manually and add notes to each password.

Checkup with Password checkup tool built-in, scans for Passwords saved to Chrome and shows if any are compromised or weak or reused anywhere on other websites.

Enable the new Password Manager UI in Chrome

  1. Launch Chrome
  2. visit chrome://flags
  3. Search for” password manager” (without quotes)
  4. For the Password Manager New UI highlighted, select Enabled from the dropdown

  5. Restart the browser.

After restarting, click on the menu icon and select settings
Visit Autofill and click Password Manager
Or copy and paste “chrome://password-manager/passwords” (without quotes) in the address bar and press enter

The feature is being tested in Chrome 112. You need to be using the latest Canary version to check it.

It may take time for Google to get Chrome’s new Password Manager redesign ready and working. We don’t know when the Chrome release will get this feature. As of now, the Chrome team is still working on it.
