Chrome 94: Chrome Settings page is updated to improve navigation

Starting with Chrome 94, instead of showing all Chrome browser settings, Google wants to show only one section at a time when the user navigates to it. By default, it shows the people (You and Google) section page when visited. Google is testing the redesign of the Settings landing page in Chrome Canary for Windows, Mac, Linux, and ChromeOS.

Google Chrome offers settings for users to customize, configure and control the privacy and security and the way the browser works.

Be it be syncing stuff across the devices or customizing the profile or clear browsing data, you can manage all that including changing search engine or language settings, or resetting Chrome by visiting chrome://settings page.

When you land on the Settings page, Chrome shows all sections to you on a single long page, it is scrollable.

Google now wants you to show only one section at a time when you select a menu entry option.

For instance, when you select Autofill, it only shows the Autofill settings but not the remaining sections.

This applies to all others such as safety check, Privacy, and security, Appearance, Search engine, Default browser, on Startup, Languages, Downloads and Accessibility,

To see the change in action,

  1. Visit the Chrome://flags page in Canary
  2. Enable the “Settings Landing Page Redesign” flag.

  3. Restart the browser and select the Settings option in the menu to see Chrome showing only the people section.

Going forward, an experimental version of the Settings page may allow you to access and see specific parts without needing to scroll through to the bottom of the page.

Google is targetting the Chrome Settings page layout change with version 94.

“To aid in navigability, Chrome will replace the single long page in Chrome Settings with individual sections. The updated experience will be available starting with Chrome 94.” Google said.
