Microsoft is aiming to improve Find on-page search experience to ensure you get what you are looking for by including related matches in the Find on-page in the Microsoft Edge browser. Here is how you can disable or turn it off in Edge if you find it intrusive or not useful.
Microsoft Edge’s Find on Page Search
Microsoft Edge comes with a search function to find terms or words on a web page.
All you need to do is visit that web page and press Ctrl+F to trigger the Find box at the top. You have to type the phrase and Edge does the rest. It highlights all words matched with the input you entered in the Find box with yellow color.
Below are the cases where you may notice Find on-page search as not useful
- You didn’t type the exact phrase or word on the page
- Or you misspelled it
- Or the page contains a synonym for the same word you’ve typed.
The company is bringing “related matches toggle” in Find on Page in Microsoft Edge to easily find what you’re searching for.
When we covered the feature last time, no setting was available for the same. Recently, the company added a setting to control the feature experience.
Disable or turn off related matches in Find on Page in Microsoft Edge
- Open Microsoft Edge browser
- Click on the ellipsis icon and select Settings
- Select Privacy, search, and services
- scroll down to Services and disable the “Suggest better matches in Find on Page” setting.
Note: The setting is enabled by default, you need to toggle it to turn off.
Do note the feature is still being tested. We’re not sure in which version it is going to land. It may come with Edge 99 or later.
