Google is working on three new features for Chrome browser behind flags, here is what we know so far about them: mysterious modules on the New Tab Page and you may soon receive a desktop shortcut to launch Chrome in incognito mode.

Recently, we’ve reported about new features in Chrome Canary such as Edit saved passwords and share the image via QR code and also told Chrome 85 beta and Chome 86 dev versions on Windows, are now installing into Program Files by default.

New Tab Page modules

Google is testing modules on the New Tab Page. We have very little info available about this, but the Chromium team could be preparing this for WebUI NTP they’ve been working for a long time.

To test the feature

  1. Visit chrome://flags
  2.  Search for “NTP modules”, select “Enabled” from the dropdown, and restart the browser. Here is how the NTP looks with modules.

  2. In the Target field, append “–incognito: (without quotes) and click apply.
  3. The whole Target field should like below.

Repeatable queries on the New Tab page

Chrome 86 is testing another experimental feature where it may display repeatable queries as most visited tiles on the New Tab Page. Currently, the flag “#ntp repeatable queries” also is not working.
