Avast Software has released Avast Free Antivirus 18.6.2349 and is available for download. Game Mode in Avast which silences notifications from Windows Update and other apps, including Avast has been replaced with much improved Do Not Disturb Mode in Avast 18.6. The new DND mode allows you to run full-screen applications without any interruptions.

Avast Do Not Disturb Mode
Do Not Disturb Mode Promises to disable notifications from Windows, other applications and even that of Avast. The new DND mode works for non-game apps also such as browsers, for instance, Firefox, Chrome, Microsoft Edge. That means whenever an app goes to fullscreen, Avast will add that to DND list.
Launch Avast UI > Performance > Do Not Disturb Mode
You can even maximize performance for an app or game, for that, click on three dots and check ‘Maximize Performance’ in the right-click menu.
Start adding apps manually or Avast will detect apps running in fullscreen and displays them in Do Not Disturb Mode interface.
To add a new app to DND mode, click on Add a New App, select the apps displayed and click ‘Add’. If an app you want to add isn’t in the list, you can add it by using ‘Select App Path’.
If you’ve any issues with this, you can disable it by visiting Avast Settings > Components > Performance > Do Not Disturb Mode.

Note: We noticed Do Not Disturb mode doesn’t work right away after installing Avast, it keeps showing loading screen, you may need to restart your computer for it to display and function properly.

What a nice thought. Too bad it was executed so poorly.
I understand that avg wants to tell me about this cool new feature, but when it tells me about it after every new program I start the meaning falls flat. Not only I’m interrupted, but I’m interrupted even more than before.
Yes, Avast has implemented DND mode in AVG also and you can disable Do Not Disturb Mode in AVG Settings if you’ve found it annoying.

How exactly do you disable this in AVG? You say there are similar steps but I can’t seem to figure them out or find any related setting whatsoever. I got a notification the other day that AVG had added my game to the DND list now I can’t tab out using the windows key anymore which is very annoying. Happens to any game I play now within about 24 hours. I did not ask for this!

Like to Avast, you can find DND in AVG components settings, they both share the same technologies. And you can uninstall it,which removes the component, the instructions are similar to Avast.
The option inside DND-mode: “Maximize performance”, it puts the chosen application/firefox in “high priority” mode. What/how does it do that?
And it puts Windows (OS?) in “High performance mode”, what does it do exactly?

It allocates all resources and CPU to game. When you exit game, Windows gets back to normal mode.
This is a horrible idea. Game Mode worked just fine.
Who wants Chrome to run at max process priority and on top of that to prevent my PC from running in balanced for power saving mode.
It’s not like I need to run @ 3.9ghz to watch Netflix. Whoever thought of this should be fired. I wish I never updated, but unfortunately that’s not really a long term answer.
Now I have to run my usual stuff and wait until your stupid DND mode adds every program to the list so I can disable the maximize performance mode.
Maximize performance mode not enabled by default for every game, user has to turn on that manually.
I launched Frozen Throne and I got issues on it in whenever I move my mouse. Removed it from DnD list and works fine again. Avast DnD have some issues
What I don’t understand is what the switches actually mean. It suggested three apps when informing me of this Do Not Disturb feature. It’s a statement of “Do not disturb,” with a sliding click bar option. It’s currently green with a check mark. When I click it, it still says “Do not disturb,” but the thing just turns red with an x. I don’t understand which is “off” and which is “on.” ! Is the green “Please do not disturb,” and the red is “No, do not not disturb;” or is the green “It’s okay to disturb,” and the red is “Do not disturb.” ??
