What’s new – Release Notes

Till the recent Firefox release, the Switch to tab was disabled in Private Windows and Firefox never showed tabs from Private windows in normal windows.

Mozilla hesitated to support Swtich to Tab results in Private browsing windows from the beginning because of following reasons

  • If the user accepts and opens non-private suggestions for a tab in a private window, they may be under the impression they’re using private browsing when they switch to that tab. This causes confusion.
  • Tab switching between private and non-private windows is faulty.

With Firefox 91, the company offers a switch to tab suggestions in Private browsing.

This has caused regression and now users are left with mixed private and non-private switch-to-tab results. Mozilla has been able to reproduce this issue and has fixed it.

Firefox 92 and above versions are unaffected by this.

The update addresses another issue where tab titles appear excessively tall when showing certain page titles including Unicode math symbols.

The dot release comes with a security fix also.

You’ll be able to update to this version by checking for updates in Firefox about dialog.
