
Open-source and cross-platform email client, Thunderbird jumped from 68 to 78 in July, this year. The major update with Calendar integrated, brought redesigned composed window, true dark mode and other improvements. Though Thunderbird v78 does support OpenPGP, its not enabled by default even in few days back released 78.2, it is now in 78.2.1 version published on August 29.
Thunderbird 78.2.1 is not available to upgrade from 68, you need to be using v78 to receive this update.
What’s new:
- OpenPGP enabled by default
- Disabled the use of MD5/SM2/SM3 algorithms in OpenPGP.
- An issue related to OpenPGP has been fixed where users with sub-identities were unable to encrypt or sign messages when switching identities
- OpenPGP message security window now supports dark mode
Thunderbird v78 supports MailExtensions only and is supported on following platforms
- Windows:Windows 7 or later
- Mac:macOS 10.9 or later
- Linux: GTK+ 3.14 or higher
