Add Firefox like Downloads Menu to new Microsoft Edge with Extension

New Microsoft Edge browser lacks the downloads menu, an extension named “TMDM- The Missing Download Menu” available on Edge Add-ons Store adds that and shows all the downloaded files in a menu.

New Microsoft Edge browser, doesn’t offer a menu to see downloads like the previous version of Edge provides in the hub.

Downloads Menu in new Microsoft Edge

Current Edge follows Chrome behavior by showing downloads on a separate page at the edge://downloads/all page. You can also visit it by selecting the “Downloads ” (Ctrl+J) option in the Ellipsis menu.

The page displays all files by different types and puts them into respective categories such as PDFs, Documents, Apps, Images, Compressed files, Video, audio, and others.

For instance, Edge displays the PDF files that were downloaded in the PDF category, and similarly, the programs in the Apps category, this is a neat and good way of organizing files for the users.

But a dedicated menu to quickly see downloads is missing in the Chromium Edge browser. A menu, similar to the Firefox Downloads panel can be added by installing an extension available on the Microsoft Edge Add-ons Store.

To add download menu to new Microsoft Edge

1. Launch Microsoft Edge browser

2. Visit https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com/addons/detail/tmdm-the-missing-downlo/gjjchbkfeokfaifbcokbndccpogfjfpn

3. Click Get, the extension will be installed and adds a download icon to the Edge toolbar.

You should note that the extension added download menu which offers a search feature, does not take over or replace Edge’s built-in download manager.

It just allows you to view downloaded files in the browser. The Extension icon when clicked shows filenames and allows you to open the respective file folders on your computer.
