Reader Mode feature (currently in development) can be enabled or disabled in Chrome from the browser Appearance Settings.
Recently Firefox has got a new design for Reader mode in Nightly. Microsoft, on the other hand, offers Reader View in both Legacy and new Edge browsers. Chromium-based Vivaldi also has this feature built-in. Google has been working on the Reader Mode feature for Chrome on the desktop for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Chrome OS for some time for now.
The feature is available behind a flag in Chrome and is based on Dom Distiller that simplifies pages in Chrome on Android.
Chrome Reader Mode has evolved nicely over time. A dedicated icon appears in the address bar when a page supports Reader Mode. Users can use the address bar icon to toggle the feature. The content will be presented with less white space.
Google has made it clear that Reader Mode works on secure pages only. The references to Distill Page and Dom Distiller in Chrome have been replaced with Reader Mode.
Chrome now allows us to enable or disable “Reader Mode for web Pages” in browser appearance Settings.
