Ever since Microsoft started contributing to Chromium, Google Chrome started gaining new features for accessibility, Caret browsing is an example albeit its not available yet and Chrome allows screen readers to request Google for the image descriptions is another e.g. Recently, the Chromium team has bean work to provide the ability to customize “Captions” on Mac, Windows, Linux, Chrome OS, and Android.

Google has decided to “allow Chrome users on the platform that do not have system caption styling to provide a default styling for WebVTT captions displayed by Blink. “
This change affects Chrome OS and Linux, and on platforms such as Windows, Mac, and Android with Captions Settings Chrome links to them from Accessibility Settings via new Captions entry.
Do note this Captions option is enabled by default under Accessibility in Chrome browser on Android and Windows 10 for version 78, as we noticed.
In latest Chrome Dev and Canary, if you now head to Chrome://settings/Accessibility and click Captions, it will open “Closed Captions” page in the Windows 10 Settings App.

Similarly, if you now open Chrome Canary on Android, and tap on Menu > Settings > Accessibility, you’ll notice the Captions option, tapping it opens Captions settings on Android.
