If you’re using Chrome 73 and noticed a new menu item in hamburger menu saying “Managed by your organization” you’re not alone, some Chrome users on Windows and Linux are affected also and the message informs the device or Chrome browser is being managed and leads the user to a page to provide details about Chrome browser management.

There is a thread about this issue on Chrome help forum where a user states “When I click customize and control Google Chrome, At the bottom, it shows (managed by the organization). But my PC is not under any organization or domain and it was controlled only by me. Should I be worried about this?”
On Chrome subreddit, some reported LastPass extension set a policy called “Extension Install Sources” and they can see this in their chrome://policy page.
A Chrome employee [falir not verified] said on Reddit that recent changes made to Chrome in version 73 by Google will trigger managed by your organization message if one or more enterprise policies set in the browser. He confirmed they’re looking into the issue.
If you’re affected and not part of an organization, you can fix this and remove the message, before that, first, check your Chrome browser or Chromebook is being managed.
For Chrome browser, visit chrome://policy page and check if the page lists any policies were set by you or your company or extensions, you should see ‘No policies set’ message.

For Chromebook, if you see managed device icon at the bottom right when you select time, then your device is managed, if you don’t see the icon, your device is not managed.
In general, if you visit Chrome://management page it should show “This browser is not managed by a company or other organization. Activity on the device may be managed outside of Chrome”.
Remove Managed by your Organization message in Chrome 73
If you’re using Chrome on Windows,
1. Download and run Chrome Policy remover from here, it is a simple batch file contains commands to delete Chrome policies, restart Chome and check message displays in the menu.
2. If you’re on Linux, delete these folders
/etc/opt/chrome/policies
/etc/opt/chrome/policies/managed
/etc/opt/chrome/policies/recommended
The above solutions are provided by a Product expert in the Chrome help forum and have been marked as the recommended answer for the issue.
If that above instruction doesn’t help visit chrome://flags page and find “Show managed UI for managed users” flag and disable it and relaunch the browser to see it fixes the issue.
