According to recently created bug, Chrome on desktop platforms will show Internet Picker when user has Progressive Web App or PWA installed.
To implement “Intent Picker” on desktop platforms, Chromium team moved Intent Picker code out from ChromeOS folder to chrome://browser://apps folder.
A flag for the same has been added, you can now find this in chrome://flags page in latest Canary version.
Here is the description for Intent Picker flag that is available for Mac, Windows, and Linux:
“When going to a site that has URL manageable by a PWA, show the intentPicker to allow the user to open the URL in the app.”
If you don’t know, Google Chrome supported installing of PWAs in the browser from version 70 onwards. if you visit PWA in Chrome, an option will be available in tools menu to install the Progress Web App, which you can select to get it installed, you can find it in chrome://apps page as well as on Start menu on Windows.
