Fix Firefox 71 does not start after update

If you’ve recently updated Firefox to version 71 and noticed it’s not opening when you launch it, this has something to do with currently running or previously uninstalled Comodo products according to reports.

It does surprise everyone that leftovers of Comodo are still causing issues to Firefox. Mozilla is aware of this and is observing this as a regression from the change introduced in this version and is investigating, meanwhile if your Firefox 71 isn’t opening without showing any error or warning, follow the steps given below.

The issue “Firefox 71  not starting in Windows 8”  has been brought to Mozilla’s attention two months back a by user stating that ever since Firefox dev version updated, the browser is not starting and the profile manager is also not opening. The organization closed the issue as resolved when the affected user confirmed the issue was fixed after removing Comodo antivirus.

The issue seems now returned and affecting users running Comodo Firewall or other Comodo products. Here is what you need to do if you’re affected

.1. If you’ve Comodo security programs installed, ensure they’re up to date.

2. If you’ve not installed any Comodo Application recently, search for “IseGuard64.dll” without quotes in Window search, if found in the “C:/Windows/System32” folder, delete it immediately.

3. If you’re using Windows or third-party Firewall, ensure Firefox is allowed to access the internet.

The method mentioned in the second step has been acknowledged as the solution by affected users on the FIrefox help forum for the latest version. We suggest you do a search for iseGuard64.dll file on your computer before checking other steps or solutions.
