Avast: Next CCleaner version will be released Soon with more user control options

After covering post on Avast’s official statement over active monitoring and heartbeat (anonymous analytics) features, a lot of media sites picked up the story and suggested users to uninstall CCleaner, the news has gone viral, which made Avast rethink. They’ve updated an article they posted earlier on their website today and here we’re sharing the new information by comparing with the cached version of the old page.

Tip: How to Access Google Cached Page from Chrome Address bar

August 07. 2018: Piriform has removed CCleaner 5.45 and restored CCleaner 5.44 on their site, you can download 5.44 version from CCleaner website now.

“The information which is collected through these new features is aggregated, anonymous data and only allows us to spot trends. This is very helpful to us for the purposes of improving our software and our customers’ experience. No personally identifiable information is collected.”

Avast confirms

1. The CCleaner product and development team is working on a new version, which will be released as soon as possible, previously they said it will be released in the coming weeks.

To minimize the damage, a new CCleaner version will be out soon. This looks to us they’re in a hurry to release an update and say see we fixed things for you and provided what you’ve requested. No word on privacy setting they’ve taken away from CCleaner free, regarding data collection, will that be offered or not? We’ll see.

2. Piriform will separate active monitoring from heartbeat aka analytics (this has been previously said before as well).

3. The new version will offer more user control options that will be remembered when you close CCleaner. Here Avast is talking about CCleaner’s Active monitoring setting not been saved when disabled, it gets re-enabled as we know. They want to fix that, which is also most users unhappy about.

“We’re currently working on a new version of CCleaner which will separate out cleaning functionality (Active Monitoring) from analytics reporting, and offer more user control options which will be remembered when CCleaner is closed”.

Will you give one more chance to Avast?
