Download Unity Hub for PC, Windows 11/10 & Mac (Free)

The official Unity download for Windows 11, 10 and Mac is Unity Hub, a free 176 MB installer from Unity Technologies. You install the Hub first, then use it to add any Unity Editor version you need.

The Hub, the Editor and the Unity Personal plan all cost nothing for hobbyists and small businesses. A Unity account is the only thing you need before the download starts.

This guide covers the file that matches your machine, installing on Windows and Mac, winget, adding an Editor, requirements, and fixes for Unity Hub not installing.

Unity Hub card with version, file size and supported systems
The Windows 64-bit installer is 176 MB, and the Hub runs on Windows 10 21H1 or later and macOS 12.

Which Unity Hub download do you need?

Unity publishes one Hub installer per platform and chip. Match your machine to a row and download that file.

Your machine File to download Size
Windows 11 or 10, Intel or AMD 64-bit UnityHubSetup-x64.exe 176 MB
Windows 11 on Arm, such as Snapdragon laptops UnityHubSetup-arm64.exe 167 MB
Mac with Apple M1 or later UnityHubSetup-arm64.dmg 149 MB
Mac with an Intel processor UnityHubSetup-x64.dmg 165 MB
Ubuntu Unity apt repository instructions Installed with apt
Windows 8, macOS 10.13 to 11, or Ubuntu 20.04 and 22.04 Legacy Hub 3.14.5 and 3.12.1 Per file

These links carry no version number and serve the current Hub release, so a bookmarked link stays useful after an update.

Download Unity Hub from Unity’s official sources

Unity Technologies distributes the Hub from unity.com and its own CDN at unity3d.com. Any other site offering a Unity installer is a repackaged copy.

  1. Download Unity page — asks you to sign in or create a Unity account, then offers the installer for your platform
  2. Install the Hub on Windows or macOS — Unity’s setup guide and system requirements
  3. Unity Editor download archive — older Editor versions, installed through the Hub
  4. Unity plans and pricing — Personal, Pro, Enterprise and Industry

How to install Unity Hub on Windows 11 and 10

The installer adds the Hub for every user on the PC and asks for administrator approval.

  1. Open the Download Unity page and sign in, or select Create account.
  2. Select the Download link for Windows and save the .exe file.
  3. Double-click UnityHubSetup-x64.exe in your Downloads folder.
  4. Select Yes at the User Account Control prompt.
  5. Follow the Unity Hub setup window to accept the licence agreement and choose an install folder.
  6. Wait for the setup to finish, then close the window.
  7. Allow network access if Windows Firewall asks, so the Hub can reach Unity’s servers.
  8. Sign in with your Unity ID to activate the free Personal licence automatically.

If the licence does not appear, open Settings, select Licenses > Add license, then Get a free personal license and Agree and get personal edition license.

Install Unity Hub with winget instead

The Windows Package Manager installs the same Hub from Unity’s CDN without opening a browser or the Download Unity page.

  1. Right-click Start and select Terminal (Admin).
  2. Run winget install –id Unity.UnityHub -e to download and install the Hub.
  3. Type Y if winget asks you to accept the source agreement.
  4. Run winget upgrade –id Unity.UnityHub -e later to move to a newer release.
  5. Open Unity Hub from the Start menu and sign in.

The winget package picks the x64 or Arm64 installer to match your PC.

Which Unity Hub download do you need for your Mac?

Open the Apple menu and select About This Mac. The Chip or Processor line tells you which disk image to use.

Your Mac says Download Size
Chip: Apple M1, M2, M3, M4 or later UnityHubSetup-arm64.dmg 149 MB
Processor: Intel Core UnityHubSetup-x64.dmg 165 MB
macOS 11 Big Sur or older Legacy Hub versions Per file

Double-click the .dmg file and follow the Unity Hub setup window, then open the Hub from Applications. The current Hub needs macOS 12 Monterey or later.

Allow access to your files when macOS asks. The Hub needs it to open local projects and Editor installations.

Is Unity Hub free?

Yes. Unity Hub is free, and so is the Unity Personal plan it activates. Unity Personal needs no credit card. It covers individuals, hobbyists and small businesses whose revenue and funding stay under $200K USD over the prior 12 months. Above that line, Unity Pro is required at $210 per month, or from $2,310 per year. Unity Enterprise and Unity Industry use custom pricing through Unity’s sales team. The Hub itself never asks for payment, so a site charging for a Hub download is not Unity.

Should you install the Unity Editor from the Hub or the download archive?

The Hub is a manager. Games are built in the Unity Editor, which you add after the Hub is running.

Install the Editor from the Hub’s Installs page, and use the archive only for an older version a project needs. The Installs page lists current long-term support releases and pre-releases, and installs build modules in the same step. The download archive holds older, unsupported versions, and its Install links in the Hub installation column open the Hub to do the download.

Open the Hub, select Installs in the left sidebar, then Install Editor at the top right.

Pick a version on the Official releases tab and select Install. Tick any build modules you need, such as Android or iOS support, then select Install again.

Watch progress under Downloads in the Hub toolbar. For an older Editor, open the Archive tab and follow its link to the archive page.

How to check your Unity Hub version and update it

Windows lists the installed Hub version, so you can compare it with Unity’s current release in a minute.

  1. Press Windows + I and open Apps > Installed apps.
  2. Search for Unity Hub and read the version number under its name.
  3. Compare it with the current release in the spec table below.
  4. Run winget upgrade –id Unity.UnityHub -e if the version is still behind.
  5. Download the installer again from the table above and run it over the old copy if winget is not available.

Beta builds of the Hub are switched on under Advanced Settings inside the Hub.

Check the Unity Hub system requirements before you install

Windows 10 needs the 21H1 feature update or later. Press Windows + R, type winver and select OK to see your version.

Fix Unity Hub not installing or not working on Windows 11 and 10

The installer fails on Windows 10

Unity documents a conflict with the Mandatory ASLR exploit-protection setting.

  1. Open Windows Security and select App & browser control.
  2. Select Exploit protection settings, then Program settings.
  3. Select Add by program name or Choose exact file path and pick the Hub installer.
  4. Find Force randomization for images (Mandatory ASLR) and tick Override system settings.
  5. Turn the setting on, select Apply, and run the installer again.

The Hub will not reinstall after its folder was deleted

Deleting the folder by hand leaves the Hub’s registry entries behind, which blocks a fresh install.

  1. Check Settings > Apps > Installed apps for a leftover Unity Hub entry and uninstall it.
  2. Remove the remaining Unity Hub registry entries, or ask your IT team to clean them.
  3. Restart the PC and run the installer again.

The download page keeps asking you to sign in

The Download Unity page only offers installers to a signed-in Unity account.

  1. Select Create account and confirm the email Unity sends.
  2. Sign in again and select the Download link for your platform.
  3. Use the direct file links in the table above if the page still loops.

Editor downloads or project paths fail

The Hub does not support network drive relative paths or symbolic links.

  1. Open the Hub Settings and find the Editor install and download locations.
  2. Replace any network share or symbolic link with a full local path, such as a folder on drive C: .
  3. Retry the Editor install from Installs.

The Hub says you have no licence

Automatic activation did not run when you signed in.

  1. Open Settings and select Licenses.
  2. Select Add license, then Get a free personal license.
  3. Read the terms and select Agree and get personal edition license.

How to uninstall Unity Hub and the Editors it installed

Remove Editor versions first, while the Hub is still there to do it. Editors you added by hand only leave the list.

  1. Open the Hub and select Installs.
  2. Select Manage next to each Editor version, then Uninstall.
  3. For a manually installed Editor, select Remove and delete its folder yourself.
  4. Sign out of the Hub to return your Unity Personal licence.
  5. Press Windows + I, open Apps > Installed apps, find Unity Hub and select Uninstall.
  6. On a Mac, quit the Hub and drag Unity Hub from Applications to the Bin.
  7. On Ubuntu, run sudo apt remove unityhub .

Frequently asked questions

Is Unity Hub free to download?

Yes. Unity Hub is free from unity.com, and the Unity Personal plan it activates is free for individuals and businesses under $200K USD in revenue and funding over 12 months. Unity Pro, required above that threshold, costs $210 per month.

What is the official Unity download page?

The Download Unity page at unity.com/download, run by Unity Technologies. It asks you to sign in or create a Unity account, then offers the Hub installer for Windows, macOS and Linux. Older Editor versions sit on the Unity download archive.

What is the Unity Hub download size?

The Windows 64-bit installer is 176 MB and the Windows Arm64 installer is 167 MB. On a Mac, the Apple silicon disk image is 149 MB and the Intel disk image is 165 MB. Each Editor version you add later downloads separately.

Does Unity Hub work on Windows 11?

Yes. Unity supports the Hub on Windows 11 and on 64-bit Windows 10 from the 21H1 update onward. Windows 8 needs the legacy Hub 3.12.1 release, which Unity still lists on its documentation site.

Is there a Unity Hub offline installer?

No true offline setup exists. The 176 MB Hub installer runs without a connection once downloaded, but signing in with a Unity ID and downloading any Editor version both need internet access.

Is Unity Hub available for Mac?

Yes. Unity ships separate disk images for Apple silicon Macs and Intel Macs, and the current Hub needs macOS 12 Monterey or later. Macs on macOS 11 or older can use the legacy Hub versions Unity lists.

Does Unity Hub support 64-bit and ARM64?

Yes. Windows builds exist for x64 and Arm64, and macOS builds exist for Apple silicon and Intel. There is no 32-bit Windows installer, and the Linux package targets 64-bit amd64 systems.

Is Unity Hub safe to install?

Yes, when the installer comes from unity.com or Unity’s CDN at unity3d.com. Avoid download portals and any site offering Unity Pro for free, because Pro is a paid plan and a free copy is not genuine.

What is the latest Unity Hub version?

Unity Hub 3.21.2 is the current release for Windows and macOS, published on 10 September 2026. The Linux build is on 3.20.1. Run the newest installer over an older copy to update it.

Why won’t Unity Hub install?

On Windows 10, a Mandatory ASLR exploit-protection setting can block the installer, so add an override for it in Windows Security. A Hub folder deleted by hand also leaves registry entries that stop a reinstall.

Can you download Unity without the Hub?

The Hub is Unity’s documented route for installing the Editor. The Install links in the download archive’s Hub installation column also open the Hub to fetch the Editor and its modules, so install the Hub first.

Do you need a Unity account to download Unity Hub?

Yes. The Download Unity page asks you to sign in or create a free Unity account before it offers the installer, and the Hub needs the same Unity ID to activate your licence.
