What is DbxSvc.exe and how to Close it?

What is DbxSvc.exe?

You should have already Dropbox installed on your computer. That’s why DbxSvc.exe is running.

According to Dropbox, DbxSVc.exe is used to install Smart Sync Driver.

If you’re not a business user, then this process is unnecessary and should not be running. Generally, this installs when you install the Dropbox client on your computer.

DbxSvc can be found in the Dropbox client installed location in Program Files as well as in the C:WindowsSystem32 folder.

Dropbox uses DbxSVC to update the driver and to establish new driver and client connections.

It is better to leave it as it is as that is no harm, it also affects the functioning of the Smart Sync feature.

But, sometimes this appears running in Task Manager even after Dropbox uninstall, then you may consider disabling and uninstalling it. here is how that can be done.

How to disable or delete DbxSvc.exe

1. Open the command prompt as administrator

2. Type net stop dbxsvc and press enter

3. After that, when you see the message’ The DbxSvc’ service was stopped successfully’, type the following command and press enter

sc delete dbxsvc

4. Running the above will delete the Dropbox service.

After using Dropbox on Windows for some period if you’ve uninstalled it, you should know this: its service named DbxSvc still runs in the background, which you can notice under the ‘Processes’ tab in the Task Manager.
