Losing track of your mouse cursor on a large computer monitor or multiple monitors, PowerToys is getting a new utility named ” Find My Mouse” to fix this. The feature shows a spotlight on the mouse pointer on the screen when you press the left Ctrl key two times.
How to highlight the Mouse cursor on Windows 11/10
In case you don’t know, Windows 11 or Windows 10 lets you locate a mouse pointer and makes it more visible, here is how.
- Open Settings > Bluetooth & Devices,
- Under related Settings, open “additional Mouse settings“
- Click on the “Pointer Options” tab
- Under Visibility, check “Show location of Pointer when I Press the Ctrl key“.
Now, whenever you want to find the Mouse pointer, press Ctrl.
PowerToys is adding the ability to find your mouse pointer with a “different experience” to what Windows offers when you turn on the above-mentioned setting and press hotkey, the feature supports multi-monitors too.

Microsoft PowerToys come a long way since its reintroduction. It is available on Windows 11 Store also
PowerToys ships with a set of utilities to improve your productivity and customize Windows.
The collection includes Awake, Color Picker, FancyZones, File Explorer add-ons, image resizer, Keyboard manager, PowerRename, PowerToys Run, Shortcut Guide, and Video conference Mute.
Soon, PowerToys may get “Mouse Utilities”. The set of utilities are expected to enhance your mouse.
As per information posted on Github, the first utility to be available for Mouse from PowerToys is “Find My Mouse”.

To use it, you need to open PowerToys and ensure “Enable Find My Mouse” is toggled to On under Mouse utilities, and, you have to press the left Control key twice to see the spotlight on the mouse.

The implementation is said to have been taken from Super Sonar, by Redmond Chen, a Programmer at Microsoft Corporation.

Irrespective of whether you need Find My Mouse PowerToy or not, it is a good addition to the collection of utilities already available for sure.
