Colorful ‘Alpenglow’ theme is available in Firefox 81 and on AMO

In addition to the present Default, Light and Dark themes, Mozilla has added another excellent colorful theme to Firefox 81 and is available in Nightly in the Themes section to enable as well as on the Mozilla add-ons site as an add-on to install in Firefox 80.

Mozilla developed a new theme called “Firefox Alpenglow” to show it to the user to choose during the Firefox onboarding experience. This appears along with default themes on about:welcome page.

Currently, the new theme doesn’t exist in yesterday released Firefox, but available by default in Themes section in Firefox Nightly.

To install or enable Mozilla’s Alpenglow theme in Firefox

  1. Launch Firefox Nightly
  2. Click on menu > Add-ons > Themes
  3. And enable “Firefox Alpenglow” to see Firefox buttons, menus and windows appear with purple, pink and black colors.

To install the Alpenglow theme in Firefox release,

  1. In Firefox, visit https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/firefox-alpenglow/
  2. Select “Install theme”
  3. Head to menu > Add-ons > Themes > Firefox Alpenglow to enable.

According to this bug, the theme designed by Mozilla Firefox team to come pre-installed with Firefox version 81 and will also support Windows 10’s light and dark modes.

    It’s not enabled by default. So don’t bother about that. IF you’ve enabled it, you can disable by visiting add-ons > Themes.
