By default with the Balanced option enabled in Privacy and services, the new Microsoft Edge browser based on Chromium detects and blocks trackers. Today, Microsoft updated Edge Canary to 80.0.335.0 with a new option to allow users to always use Strict Tracking Prevention in Private windows.
For the uninitiated, like Firefox, Microsoft Edge also offers Tracking Protection in three modes:
Basic: Blocks known harmful trackers, but allows other trackers that personalize content and ads.
Balanced (Recommended): Blocks harmful trackers and other tackers from sites you have not visited. There is less chance for personalizing content and ads when this level is chosen.
Strict: Blocks most of the trackers from sites. Part of the sites may break when you choose this mode. Content and ads will likely have minimal personalization.
Microsoft sets Tracking Prevention to Balanced mode in regular and private windows. Now, the company is allowing users to set a Strict Protection level for TP in InPrivate windows, here is how you can enable that.
