Finally! Mozilla allows to disable Quick Find in Firefox browser. In Firefox, to find something you’re looking for in a web page, you can use Find bar. If you open Find bar using Ctrl+ F, it offers options such as Highlight All, Match Case, and Whole Words. There is also a mini find bar known as Quick Find in Firefox that is useful for quick search, this appears at the bottom and goes away after a few seconds when you press / (forward slash) or ‘(single quote), the latter is only for finding links in the browser.
Chances are, you may not know or never used Quick Find in Firefox browser that often, but accidentally typing the / or ‘ character opens Quick Find and that can be annoying when you’re working on something. Starting from Firefox 63, Mozilla to allow to disable it by toggling a preference in about:config.

What is Quick Find and how to open and use it in Firefox browser?
Before disabling Firefox Quick Find, for the uninitiated users, we’re giving a brief on what Quick Find in Firefox is and how to open and use it.
I. Finding links on a page using Quick Find
‘ (single quote character) opens Quick Find (links only) bar at the bottom of page.

Type the phrase that you want to find in links on web page, that phrase will be selected and shown after typing.
II. The / (forward slash) opens the Quick Find, you’ll find this similar to Find bar, but doesn’t contain Highlight All, Match Case and other option. Just type a phrase you’re looking to see in page, that phrase will be highlighted.

Disable Quick Find bar in Firefox
Ensure you’re using Firefox 63 (which is currently in Nightly)
1. Visit about:config
2. Search for find, in the search results shown, select ‘accessibility.typeaheadfind.manual‘ preference

3. Double click to change its value from true to false, done.
